He’ll lead you the way

Our Bonus grandma, whom God gifted us with when we arrived in California, was going through a tough time these couple of months.

A few days ago, I called her up to see how she’s been feeling. Grandma Kauther responded:

“I don’t feel myself. You know me, Zahra, I had all this energy to get up and do my house chores before, and now — it’s all gone. I feel depressed.”

I told her my family and I would be heading her home to cheer her up and read the holy book on her, the Quran for healing.

Almighty God says in the Quran:

“And We sent down in the Quran such things that have healing and mercy for the believers” (Quran, Al-Isra, 17:82)

Of course, with the pandemic in mind, we went OCD with practicing social distance.

Today is Thursday. In my faith, all the gates of heaven are open on Thursdays and Mondays, and it rained, so making prayers is highly accepted during those times!

There was this sense of peace and serenity I felt being there with her and being a source of comfort. When we entered her home, I sensed the depressed darkness on her face, but when we left, we sucked that energy out by God’s grace; her face was lighting up!

Our Way Home

We got locked out. One of my talented kids came up with an invention to stuff up sticks in the door. Now, we wrestled the crazy out of that door to open it, but somehow we couldn’t.

Sleeping at a friend or a family member’s house with all my eight children would be a nightmare I’d wish upon no one and especially during this pandemic where everyone is freaking out.

But somehow, I had this gut feeling my window would be open.

And we will enter our home.

My Son Khalid came rushing towards me, shouting at the top of his lungs as if he scored a full-court shot.

“Mom, haha, I opened the window. Can you believe it was open?”

At that moment, I remembered something my beloved prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) Said,

Allah will aid a servant (of His) so long as the servant aids his brother.”

We needed relief to know we could rest in our home today and not have to put a burden on anyone.

And since the heart is the window to the soul, us uplifting my friend’s heart was matched with a perfect glove for God’s wisdom to open our window!
